In their first home football game of the fall, the Masconomet Chieftains won 20-6 against

the Beverly Panthers! Key athletes who contributed to Masco’s triumphant win include Robbie

Engel, Tyller Goncalves, Leonidas Koutoulas, Davis Deluties, and Ashwin Prasad. As for Beverly, though they couldn’t pull in the win this time, some players still had a great game. These players include Jack Consedine, Brian Kessel, Jayden Santos, Daniel Conant, Brendan McCarron, Sean Costa, Liam Timpone, and Shane Callahan.

Masconomet took the lead early into the game, scoring 14 points in the first quarter.

Credit to Robie Engel, who scored two touchdowns, one of which he had taken 85 yards up the

field from the opening kickoff. Tyller Goncalves also played a critical role in the Chieftains’

victory. He carried the ball 17 times, wracking up an astonishing total of 157 yards. Masco’s

game strategy was overwhelmingly run-heavy. In the second quarter, Beverly’s Jack Consedine

put 6 points on the scoreboard. Also in the second quarter, Masco’s Davis Deluties, a freshman,

scored an 8-yard touchdown following a 10-play, 70-yard drive. This touchdown secured the

Chieftains lead for the rest of the game.

The Masco crowd showed their school spirit by dressing up for a complete white-out;

everyone was decked out in white and face paint! The cheer team also did an amazing job

bringing excitement to not only the spectators but also the Chieftains working hard out on the

field. Masco’s pep band, overseen by Walter O’Keefe and Micheal Ando, brought lots of

enthusiasm from the bleachers with their performance of classic hype songs. Student conductor Aidan Venckus led the band in a multitude of songs, including “The Star Spangled Banner,” “I’m Shipping Up to Boston,” “You Can Call Me Al,” “Land of 1000 Dances,” “All-Star,” and “Come Feel the Noize.” The night was a little chilly, but it was nothing that a trip to the concession stand couldn’t fix; snacks and hot chocolate are always a crowd favorite. All in all, it was an amazing first home game; congratulations on the win, Masco!
