Polar Plunge for Special Olympics

with the Gibson Family

Brothers Brayden and Bennett Gibson

Thirteen-year-old Brayden Gibson, a student at Christian Academy of Louisville, participated in the Polar Plunge of Louisville this February to raise money for Special Olympics of Kentucky (SOKY). Special Olympics of Kentucky is important to Brayden because his older brother, Bennett, participates in the Special Olympics. “It means a lot for Bennett to be able to play basketball with his friends in a competitive way,” the Gibsons tell us. Bennett plays on the Special Olympics basketball team called Louisville Storm. He has been playing for going on six years and they have become more than just a “team.” The whole Gibson family enjoys going to watch these games. Brooke and Brian Gibson are proud parents to Bennett, Brayden, Bristol, Brielle, and Brooks and have lived in Lake Forest since 2009.

This is the first year the family is participating in the Louisville Polar Plunge to raise money for Special Olympics of Kentucky. Their plunge team members were not only Brayden and his dad Brian but also aunt and uncle Christa and Devin Veith. Donations from the Polar Plunge help SOKY provide more for the athletes each year.
