David and Shayna Hines are residents of Sugar Mill Pond and have owned and operated Huya Craft Coffee, located in Mill Commons for the last two and a half years.  You can often see them in the shop or around the neighborhood walking or riding their e-bikes along with their two daughters Ann (12) and Vivian (9). The Hines' originate from Franklin, Louisiana but found Sugar Mill Pond to be the perfect place to plant their business and family. Since moving here you can often hear them proclaim "this is what all neighborhoods should be based off of".

 

It all started from a mobile coffee shop! In 2016 David and Shayna started “Brewed Over”, a utility trailer turned into a mobile coffee shop.  In early 2020, Kily LaGarde, a friend/customer approached them about starting a brick and mortar shop.  After much discussion, it was agreed that Youngsville was where they all wanted to be and Huya was born.  The three worked together to create the unique place that is Huya.  In the summer of 2021, Kily sold her part of the business to the Hines' due to personal reasons. They remain friends and proud of what they grew together and you will often find Kily frequenting the drive-thru!

 

Although craft coffees are in our name we have won national awards for a pastry we created called the Boudin Poptart. Shayna, David, and the entire staff at Huya are constantly creating new drinks, pastries, and food items to keep things fresh and exciting. Craft coffee shops tend to be intimidating. We strive to create an environment that is welcoming. Our baristas are trained to help you decide on what you should order and what it will pair best with. Our customers are some of the best in the world and are equally inviting. 

 

Huya supports a variety of different schools and non-profits.  We donate coffee, pastries, and merchandise.  We have also participated in the Flamingo Ride to end Alzheimer's.
