Meet Kristina Mills, Owner of KM Yoga Movement
Renew. Restore. Rejuvenate. That’s what yoga can do for you. Snell Isle resident Kristina Mills knows that truth firsthand. A former preschool teacher and director of a preschool program, she decided to venture out into yoga several years ago. In the process, she found her passion.
Kristina has been practicing yoga since she was 22. At the time, it was simply something she enjoyed and wanted to explore more deeply.
“It was something I always wanted to experience and learn more about,” she says.
Years later, after Kristina and her husband Troy relocated to St. Petersburg from Illinois in January of 2020, the timing finally felt right to take the next step. In 2021 she enrolled in a yoga teacher training program.
“I loved it,” Kristina says.
She went on to earn her certification in children’s yoga. After earning her certification, she was invited to teach an early morning children’s yoga program through the local park district. From there, opportunities continued to open, including a 300-hour advanced training focused on anatomy and the body’s mechanics. She also completed two meditation certifications, adding another layer to the wellness experience she now offers clients.
“Meditation is truly amazing,” she says. “How the mind and body connect and how people feel after a meditation experience.”
Today Kristina teaches yoga and meditation to a wide range of clients through KM Yoga Movement. Her classes welcome people of all ages and abilities. After all, yoga is for every body.
All Sorts of Classes
Kristina’s yoga business has bloomed and blossomed since its inception.
Today her classes and wellness events have been hosted at businesses throughout the community including F45, Ruya, Infinity, Elysian, Back 2 Normal, Pelvic Balance Physical Therapy, and Station House.
She also works with companies online, sometimes opening corporate meetings and summits with guided meditation sessions. Kristina blends several styles in her teaching.
“I teach a mix of Vinyasa, Hatha and Iyengar,” she explains. “I also teach restorative yoga.”
The focus is always on meeting each individual where they are. “You have to be able to develop plans and programs for the individual,” she says.
Wellness Retreats Around the World
One of the most exciting parts of Kristina’s work has been hosting wellness retreats. In the first year of launching KM Yoga Movement, she organized a retreat in the south of France. The experience was so well received that it has now become an annual event. The retreat recently completed its third year, offering participants a full week dedicated to wellness.
“It’s more of a wellness retreat,” Kristina says.
The experience includes yoga, meditation, time in nature exploring the Verdon Gorge biking, hiking and kayaking, nutrition, rest, and meaningful connection with others. Participants often remain connected long after the retreat ends.
“We stay in touch through WhatsApp or text chains,” Kristina says. “It’s really lovely.”
Kristina also recently hosted a four-day retreat in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, and another international retreat is already drawing attention. A planned Thailand retreat in 2027 sold out in less than 24 hours, much to Kristina’s surprise.
“I’m still in shock of it filling up completely and now having a waitlist,” she says.
Many of the retreats focus on creating a supportive environment where women can reconnect, reflect, and return feeling reenergized and inspired.
“It’s a space for women to connect and feel supported,” Kristina explains. “A holistic setting.”
Kristina’s journey for self-discovery has opened doors for people everywhere to find rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation.
Outside Interests
When Kristina isn’t teaching yoga, you can find her in Snell Isle with her husband, Troy, and their Great Dane named Odie. They are blessed with two children, Jaxon, who works for a company in Florida, and Rylie, who is proud to be a Seattle Seahawk. Together, they love going out to new restaurants, listening to music, boating, paddle boarding, biking and taking all that St. Pete has to offer.
Whether she’s guiding someone through a yoga pose, leading a meditation, or hosting a retreat halfway around the world, Kristina Mills continues to share the same simple message: wellness begins with slowing down, breathing deeply, and reconnecting with what matters most.
