Happy June, Sedgefield!

This month, we celebrate the many high school and college graduates in our community. Congratulations to all of the students and families reaching these exciting milestones!

I’m especially proud of our Stroll Sedgefield intern, Ayaan Akbar, who has contributed so much to our magazine this year. From interviewing residents and writing articles highlighting other young achievers in Sedgefield to helping with Stroll socials, Ayaan has made a tremendous impact. I first met Ayaan when we featured him in Stroll and immediately recognized his drive and heart for others after learning about the charity he founded, Hum, which serves underserved Greensboro communities. Many Sedgefield residents also supported one of Hum’s projects with the City of Greensboro by donating toiletries for those in need. After graduating from the STEM Early College at NC A&T, Ayaan will intern with Koury Corporation before attending Duke University this fall.

In this issue, don’t miss Ryder and Sienna Morrone’s heartfelt Father’s Day contribution sharing what makes their dad, Matt, so special. Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful dads in Sedgefield!

Also in this issue, be sure to check out our new Stroll partner, The Giving Tree, a resident-owned Montessori school located in the beautifully renovated historic Sedgefield Stables. The school serves children ages 4–7 and also offers summer camps.

Finally, as Sedgefield Country Club celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, I’d love to hear from residents who have photos and stories from Sedgefield through the years. Please reach out — I’d love to help preserve more of our neighborhood’s history.
