What was your favorite memory?
Big Cedar Lodge is known for its patriotic celebrations, and since we visited over Memorial Day weekend, we experienced several events honoring our nation's 250th anniversary. Our favorite was a mountaintop ceremony overlooking a beautiful stone chapel. At sunset, an antique cannon was fired, followed by a bagpiper in full traditional attire who played several patriotic songs before ending with a beautiful rendition of Ave Maria.

The experience was especially meaningful because our grandson, Lane Vallo, proudly serves our country in the United States Navy. One of the displays featured banners representing each branch of the military, and we were honored to take a photo beside the Navy banner in recognition of him.
