"A Piece of Cake"

The Trahan family cheers Kayla on to winning four of five cake making competitions

Kayla Trahan, Adam Giddings and Kynlee Trahan (9), along with their furbabies Junebug and Janet, love living in River Ranch! "I love how it is so quaint and how it is in the perfect location! Everything you need is close by. We love riding our golf cart around the neighborhood with our pups! It is one of our favorite family activities when the weather is nice out," says Kayla.

Kayla and Adam met at the Tap Room. She asked him to be a guest speaker in her high school English class, and the rest is history. Kayla was a teacher for seven years and recently resigned to focus more on her cake business. Kynlee goes to West Minister Christian Academy, where she is in the fourth grade. She is a cheerleader for her school and also is in dancing and plays soccer.

Kayla says, "Everyone has their own unique style, and we don't take anything too seriously; we are always having fun. Adam has a fun sneaker collection, Kynlee loves to be silly and tell jokes, and I love to have fun decorating cakes." They love trying new food and seeing new sights. Close to home, though, they love iMonelli, and Kayla shares, "I always order the crab cakes."

Kayla started making cakes as a hobby when she was 19. Since then, she has started making cakes for competitions and as a side business. She competed in her first cake competition in 2014 in Austin, Texas. She placed 3rd in the showpiece category. She then applied to be on Cake Wars in 2017. To her surprise, she made it on the show and she and her partner won! After winning that show, she has since been on four additional shows, winning a total of four out of five shows!

"Doing cake shows is so amazing because it sets an example to my previous students as well as my daughter that you can do anything you put your mind to," says Kayla.

The shows she has been on include Cake Wars, Cake Wars Champs, Food Network Challenge, Santa’s Baking Blizzard and Hershey's Chocolate Meltdown.

The name of her cake business is Cheers to Cake, previously known as Living my Cake Life. After resigning from teaching, she decided to rebrand her business and focus more on internet content, recipes and tutorials.
