Gizmo

A golden doodle with door-opening skills, balcony views, and a talent for strategic chair takeovers.

Hi. I’m Gizmo.

Yes, that Gizmo. The one from Gremlins. When I was born, I apparently looked just like him, so the name stuck. Personally, I think it fits. I have main-character energy.

I’m a golden doodle, currently nine months old, and I came all the way from Smeraglia Teddy Bear Goldendoodles in Alabama. Big name. Big journey. Worth it.

I should probably mention something meaningful about my birthday. I was born on the same day my family had to say goodbye to their beloved multipoo, Iggy. That makes my arrival feel a little more special. A little more intentional. I like to think I brought some light back into the house exactly when it was needed.

Now let’s talk personality.

I’m independent. Very independent. I love my people, but I don’t need constant attention. I’m perfectly happy doing my own thing. That said, if my dad gets up from his chair, I consider that an invitation. I immediately jump in and settle down like I pay the mortgage. If he wants it back, well… we can negotiate.

I’m also quite talented. I can open almost any door that isn’t deadbolted. That’s not bragging. That’s just fact. And if you turn your back for even a second, I will steal something important and make you chase me. It’s not personal. It’s enrichment. I usually agree to trade the stolen goods for a treat. Fair is fair.

On walks, I have a very dignified routine. If I see someone, I sit down and watch them. I don’t bark. I don’t lunge. I just observe. I like to know what’s going on.

When we travel, my family tries to book places with balconies. I love balconies. I could sit and stare for hours. It’s peaceful. Reflective. Very mature. But if we’re in Colorado, that’s my absolute favorite. I love the mountains, the cold air, and especially the snow. I could play in it forever before returning to my balcony post to supervise.

I’m not overly spoiled. I like treats, but I don’t go crazy for people food. I’m self-sufficient. Confident. Secure. I don’t need to beg when I know I’m already the favorite.

Mostly, I bring energy and laughter to this house. There is never a dull moment. Between door-opening skills, strategic chair takeovers, and highly coordinated theft-and-trade operations, I keep everyone on their toes.

I’m Gizmo. Independent but loving. Calm but mischievous. And if you happen to leave something unattended, just know— I saw it first.
