What sport do you play, and how did you get started?
I am 16 years old and attend St. Thomas More High School. I have been playing tennis since June of 2025. Up until then, I was a volleyball player for many years.

Where do you practice and who do you play for?
I normally practice at City Club or at school. I play for the St. Thomas More Cougars.

What events or matches have you participated in?
I have participated in weekly matches, senior night, and a tennis retreat.

I have received awards at STM for Student Leadership and Academic Excellence.

What has tennis taught you?
There are so many lessons to be learned from playing tennis. One of the biggest lessons I have learned is that I have to be able to quickly shake things off when they don’t go my way and get back in the game. You have to stay calm under pressure. I have also learned that I absolutely love playing sports outside. Volleyball is wonderful, but for the most part, you are stuck in a gym all day. Playing tennis gives me the opportunity to be in the sunshine all year round.

What do you enjoy most about playing tennis?
I love playing doubles. It is so fun to have a partner, where it is just the two of you depending on one another to make the shots. The tennis community at STM is amazing.

Do you have a favorite moment so far?
My favorite moments are when I ace my serves. Also, every moment with the team is special.

What advice would you give someone interested in tennis?
If you love being outside, enjoy strategizing, and like constant motion, tennis is for you. I am loving it so much more than I ever thought I could.
