What began as a trip to hear their son perform became an unforgettable European adventure for Chris and Mary Cockerill.

Where did you travel?
We started in Barcelona on a one-week cruise that included a stop in Toulon before continuing on to Italy. After the cruise, we traveled throughout Italy by train, visiting Milan, Lake Como, Florence, Rome, and Venice, spending three to four days in each city.

What inspired you to go there?
Our son’s acapella group was scheduled to perform in Italy, and we wanted to be there to experience it. They performed in St. Paul’s and St. Peter's Basilica Basilicas in Rome, as well as churches in Florence and Venice.

We traveled city-to-city by train throughout Italy, taking time to explore each destination and enjoy the experience along the way.

Venice was especially amazing. We enjoyed it so much that we would love to return in a couple of years.

Recommendations for your neighbors if they travel there?
Give yourself enough time to truly enjoy everything you want to see. We also highly recommend hiring a guided tour of the Vatican, including the below-ground level and the base of the dome. A guided tour of St. Mark's Basilica in Venice is worth doing as well.

We hadn’t spent a full three weeks in Europe in quite a while, but we were able to see and do so much during the trip. We’re very glad we went, and we were also glad to get back home afterward.
