Home of Ray & Susie Petta

We have lived in the Ridglea Hills area since 1999 when we bought a house on Tamworth Road. Our three married daughters and four grandchildren (ages three to eleven) all call Ridglea Hills home. We have always loved the houses around Luther Lake as our kids grew up just around the corner and spent a lot of time enjoying the lake with friends. In 2010, we bought a house on Luther Lake with the intention of remodeling it but it was eaten up with termites, so we decided to scrape and build. We have never had a contemporary home so we decided this would be a great opportunity to build exactly what we wanted.

Building a contemporary home is challenging in that there are many decisions to be made in the details of the home, so we engaged Emily Gibson with Gibson Gimpel Interior Design to help us with design and decorative decisions. Emily did a wonderful job bringing our vision to reality and working with our contractor at The Morrison Group. Emily had us look through design magazines and clip pictures of rooms that we liked so she could get a feel for the look and vibe that drew our attention. We believe in all spaces being livable as we are not into formal living and dining rooms. We were inspired by some of the homes we saw in the Florida Design Magazine and like to think of our style as being "casual contemporary." We designed the house and landscape to be as maintenance-free as possible, including the drought tolerant groundcovers, agaves and yucca rostrata designed by D&I Landscape. We enjoy living on our little urban lake where all the grandkids can gather, play and fish.
