Hello Ridglea! We are proud to be a part of the community and couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the new Stroll Ridglea! So cool! While we already know many of you, some of you may be hearing about us for the first time.
Who are we? What do we do?
We are Jack & Trish Stone, the founders of Stone’s Throw Farm Co., a local non-profit organization and registered 501c3. We operate a small produce farm, little grocery store, and mobile farm stand that moves around town. Our farmstand has been operating in Ridglea Country Club Estates for the last 3 years (typically once Saturday per month). We sell locally grown, raised, and produced foods. Our organization provides work opportunities to teens and adults with special needs. We assist individuals in building work skills, social skills, and build a sense of purpose for many with few opportunities to contribute to the world around them.
What made you do this?
Our mission and purpose grew out of our own family’s needs. We have three sons: Nate (18), Jackson (16), and Cru (14). Nate is an avid outdoorsman & is headed off to Texas Tech in the fall. Jackson has autism and is a super-goofy kid with the purest soul I have ever known. Cru has Cystic Fibrosis and Type 1 Diabetes and is crazy smart and a huge lover of all things Disney and Harry Potter.
Their needs are very different. For Cru, we pray that his physical health will allow him to live a relatively normal life. For some with his needs, the management of their physical health can encompass a significant portion of daily life impeding the ability to hold a traditional job or career. Cystic Fibrosis and Type 1 Diabetes for a combined condition is exceptionally rare. As Cru says, “I’m a legend.” For kids like Jackson, after senior year of high school, there are very few opportunities waiting. For Jackson and countless others like him, his autism will not allow him to become independent and employment opportunities are quite rare. Thus… Stone’s Throw Farm Co. was born!
How can you support us? How can we support you?
BUY FOOD! We offer locally grown, raised, and produced foods of all kinds. Produce, Eggs, Premium Meats, Milks & Cheeses, Dry Goods, Snacks, and more! Our store is open every day and is located just south of Benbrook Lake. Our mobile farmstand hits multiple locations weekly, many of which are near or within Ridglea. We also offer local delivery to all Ridglea addresses!
