How long have you lived in this house?
Almost 10 years.
What is unique about your house?
It is very unassuming from the front but once inside it is a colorful, joyful entertaining space.
What rooms did you decorate?
We have really only focused on the living spaces, the kitchen and our outdoor spaces. We have done the decorating ourselves but I am not sure decorate is the right word!? It's more like the house has evolved as we have evolved and she is serving us very well in each and every stage.
What is your favorite room in the house and why?
The Gold Room (front living room). The wall of windows lets in the perfect amount of natural light all day. We kept the furnishings neutral so that the colorful artwork and decor can pop.
Did you decorate the entire house at one time or was it a long-term project?
We have done a little at a time. We have done a couple of larger projects to open up the inside of the home and add more doors leading to the backyard. We also replaced all of the original windows (after 70 years) and made improvements to the pool.
What was your inspiration?
One of us believes in nothing on the walls or shelves and one of us believes that more is more! So we have had to strike a compromise in how we approach our spaces. We also utilize our entire home for a creative business and a corporate job with work from home flexibility. We ebb and flow from room to room as needed and work hard to keep the spaces open and ready for whatever is next.
If you could do it all over again, would you change anything?
Not really. It has been nice to live in the space for a while before deciding on major changes. There is so much more work to do and I am excited to see how it unfolds.
What advice would you give to someone looking to spruce up their own space?
Use more COLOR!! Color can be a mood booster to you, your family and anyone who experiences your colorful spaces. Don't be afraid to try something different.
