“We had a great first year under our belt. We’ve worked hard to continue the Associates in Building + Design legacy and build from what our dad started. We’re now forging new relationships and finding our unique style,” said Heather Schreiner, co-owner of Associates in Building + Design (ABD). “We’re doing it one family at a time, one home at a time.”

 

ABD was founded in 1990 by Bob Peterson. The team provides full-service design, remodeling, and building services to clients across Northern Colorado. Their business has grown by providing excellent service, communication, and support from conceptualization through the finished product.

 

Last year, Bob stepped down, and his daughters, Heather Schreiner and Alison Johnson took over as 50/50 owners. “We’re sisters but also really good friends,” said Heather. “It’s cool to work with one of your best friends and it’s been really exciting to put our stamp on the business.”

 

“This has been a great opportunity to build something for ourselves, but also our community,” added Alison. “We’re passionate about giving back and making a difference. We feel privileged to be able to serve our clients and community alike.”

 

The entire ABD Team handles all aspects of your project from the start to the final walkthrough. Heather is the Principal Designer and oversees the design aspect of projects. Alison manages the team and the business functions of ABD. Heather’s son, Andrew, serves as the Marketing Specialist on the team, and Bob consults on special projects. The Project Consultants, Jared Verseman and Bill Walsh are the first people clients meet as they begin a new project. Savannah Young oversees the Architectural Design of their work and Alyssa Christie oversees interior design. The team is rounded out by their Project Managers, Joe Hannah, Christopher Swetnam, and Mike Caldwell who ensure all jobs run smoothly.

 

The team recently completed a major remodel and redesign for a family with a home on a beautiful mountain lake. “The home was good, but it didn’t fit their needs. They needed a more functional space, and they wanted the interior to match the view outside,” explained Heather. “We helped them reimagine their kitchen, living space, and master. We went with a classic, simple but elegant look. It turned out amazing and they’re so proud of it.”

 

“We exceeded their expectations,” Alison said. “It was such a fun project. They love it and they feel at home now.”

 

ABD has continued to grow year after year, largely through referrals. “Our goal is to be good stewards,” said Heather. “We try to do our best to listen to what our clients want, and we balance their wants with good value. We listen throughout the whole project. People get a home that fits both their needs and their wants.”
