Meet Your Neighbors
The Lee family—Graham, Gabby, and their three children, Fitz, Nora, and Penelope—are enthusiastic long-term residents of the Old Village, drawn to it years ago before they had children. Their life is centered in the neighborhood: all three children attend Mount Pleasant Academy, which is just a two-block walk from their home. The Lees call the neighborhood a "village of people," appreciating how they carpool, gather socially, and help one another in times of need. They enjoy the classic Old Village sunset views and local dining favorites like the Wine Bar and Post House. The children love getting treats from the Pitt Street Pharmacy. The family fully embraces neighborhood traditions, especially the Old Village Stroll, Christmas Shindig, and lights around Christmas and the 'Skeleton House' on Halloween, often riding the golf cart to see the displays. They cherish the active lifestyle, frequently biking, walking, and soaking in the sunsets.
Precious Pets
Belle is 6 years old female english springer spaniel. The Wienke family was looking for a dog and have always had springer spaniels, so they had our heart set on getting another. They were looking on an adoption website and saw Belle and knew she was perfect for them. Belle loves running around the park on Royall Avenue and always leads her family there on walks!
Doing Good in the Hood
This past year, the Old Village Witches Ride had nearly 300 witches register. The ride has truly taken off beyond anything we imagined, and the block party has grown right along with it. Ashley Cross shared that her favorite part of the Witches Ride is the camaraderie. "Working alongside all the incredible women on our committee is inspiring. They pour their hearts into making the event magical," said Ashley.

Young Achievers
Elias Gilmore has lived in the Old Village for 11 years, and loves the kind people and the mix of history and nature all around. He is pursuing entrepreneurship by expanding his business, Old Village Shaved Ice, which he started at age ten. It began with a foldout table and a shaved ice machine from Goodwill, and now he's working toward multiple mobile units and Charleston-themed merch (check out the Instagram or website for more details!). Beyond shaved ice, he's fascinated by marine biology and freshwater aquascaping. Elias' advice to other young people is simple: "Start small, stay curious, and work hard. Celebrate the little wins, and remember that making a positive impact, on people or the environment, matters as much as achieving your goals."
Moultrie Matters
Sully Carroll, a student in Ms. Ayala's 7th grade ELA class, shared how 7th grade students began to dig into the past by completing research and creating an infographic about a World War II hero.
