Jody Stallings has been teaching English for 33 years. He grew up in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, and still lives in his childhood house. Mr. Stallings is known for teaching 8th-grade English at Moultrie Middle School and writing a weekly column in the local Moultrie News. He also teaches college classes and has won several awards for his writing and teaching. He has written three complete books: Teacher to Parent, White Lake, and Shadow Point Skies. He also contributed a piece of literature to the anthology Charleston Light.

He has been working on the Shadow Point book series for over thirty years. Mr. Stallings plans to have ten books in the series. The first book was recently published. As a reader of Shadow Point Skies, Suzanna thought the book compelling. She couldn’t put the book down and read it in four days. Owen Parker was her favorite character because of his frankness and how he changed throughout the book.

The inspiration for writing Shadow Point Skies was to provide an escape for people feeling lonely or isolated. Books can allow someone to get away from where they are and their situation. Mr. Stallings added faith as another theme to his series to show readers that there is more to life and love than what is seen on the surface. As a kid, Mr. Stallings’ mother listened to soap operas while doing housework to cope with loneliness. She would talk to other mothers about the characters and plot. The intent of Shadow Point Skies is to do what soap operas did for his mother.

Written by a wonderful author, this book is a great read. From the interesting plot to the sweet story about life and love, this book can teach life lessons and help people through life when times are difficult or lonely.
