Moultrie Middle School Student Government
Being a member of Moultrie Middle School’s student government is amazing! The purpose of student government is to build our minds for leadership. We just recently finished a successful Pink Out Day. This fundraiser for breast cancer research called for students to donate one dollar in order to wear pink clothing for the day at school. In total we raised 864 dollars! The proceeds went to the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center. Student government also organized a successful Orange Day for Bullying Prevention Month. Students and staff wore orange to show support for preventing bullying in our school. In addition to raising funds for good causes, student government also organizes fun events for the school like spirit weeks and dances.
Students take their time to plan these events for their fellow classmates. They wake up and get to school early in order to attend meetings before the school day begins. During meetings, students come up with amazing ideas each year to make school more fun. Later this month we will have a Carolina vs. Clemson food drive. Students will compete by either putting canned food items in the SouthCarolina Gamecocks bin or the Clemson Tigers bin! The bin with the most cans at the end wins! All canned goods will be donated to a local food bank. This event will end on November 17th, and on that day students can wear either that team’s jersey or a tee-shirt!
Being a part of this club is a great way for students, like us, to show school spirit and develop leadership skills. Having this opportunity helps us add to our school and community and play an important role in Moultrie Middle School.
