NGC 6992
The Veil Nebula
This image is of the Eastern and Western Veil Nebula located in the constellation of Cygnus (The Swan). I captured this image from my backyard using narrowband filters to isolate the ionized hydrogen and oxygen gas that is being illuminated from the radiation. After the sun sets in February look to the southeast for the constellation of Orion. He is most notable due to his three bright stars that make up his belt. Take note of Orion's position in the sky after sunset and compare it's position later in the month. You'll see that the constellation now sits higher and more to the south. Clear skies!
