Old Village,
We're kicking off 2024 with some wonderful stories featuring Old Village neighbors, family recipes, precious pets, young achievers, local conservation, & some 'Save-the-Date' events like the Handsome Properties Oyster Roast & T.D. McMurry's Grand Opening (New Men's Clothing store on Coleman Blvd)! Make sure you mark your calendar and join Old Village neighbors for some local happenings.
Now that we're officially in the month of February I'm hoping you've kept your New Year's resolutions. Several folks I've chatted with have started shaving off their holiday waistline through a new gym membership, decided to eat healthier, grow in their spiritual journey, & chosen to be more intentional with their time, family, and friends. It's never easy keeping to these commitments, but always worth it.
FEBRUARY FUN FACTS!
- 2024 is a "leap year" so we have 29 days in February (normally there are 28 days in February), some even consider February 29th to be a lucky day so shoot your shot fellas
- February was named after the Latin word "februum" which means 'purification' as this was historically a period for cleansing rituals during the Roman Empire
- Valentine's Day is on February 14th, write someone a loving letter, go out to eat, or sit on the couch & eat a gallon of ice-cream
- February is National Black History month
- While it's fairly cold in Charleston, February is the hottest month of the year in the Southern Hemisphere (take that flat earthers!)
- February 13th is Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday), consider eating a King Cake with friends or go all out by taking a trip to New Orleans
- We have a new Superbowl Champion, however I can't tell you who it is because this was written in January before the playoffs started! My prediction is the Baltimore Ravens.
