Genesis is a 4-year-old Labrador mix who was found as a pregnant stray in East Texas. After being taken in by the SPCA of East Texas, she underwent an emergency C-section; 6 of her 16 puppies survived. Because she was too weak to care for them herself, a dedicated bottle feeder stepped in to raise the puppies while Genesis focused on healing. 

Genesis arrived weighing about 80 lbs during her pregnancy, but after her C-section she dropped to a mere 47 lbs and was severely underweight. She has since been steadily recovering and is now up to 55 lbs and continuing to gain strength each day. 

Genesis is blossoming into a sweet, affectionate, and eager-to-please companion. She is gentle with people, loving in nature, and currently learning her basic commands as she discovers what it means to be a cherished pet. Genesis is heartworm positive, and her treatment will be fully covered by the SPCA of East Texas.

She will need to be the only pet in her home, where she can be fully devoted to her person. What she needs most now is a calm, committed family who will stand by her and give her the safe, loving home she has always deserved.
