Homemade Taco Seasoning
After searching high and low for a store-bought seasoning packet free from soy, MSG, and artificial ingredients, I decided to create my own! Since then, I’ve never looked back—this homemade taco seasoning is fresh, flavorful, and completely customizable.
This seasoning is a staple in our household! It’s quick to make, uses pantry staples, and tastes even better than store-bought mixes. We use it for tacos, enchiladas, and even to spice up grilled meats.
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 4 teaspoons onion powder
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 ½ teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons ground oregano
- 2 teaspoons white granulated sugar
- 4 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon dried cilantro (optional)
Instructions:
- Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and mix well.
- Transfer to an airtight container and store in a cool, dry place.
- For tacos, add 3-4 tablespoons of seasoning and ¾ cup of water to 1 pound of ground meat. Simmer until thickened.
- Use this seasoning for enchiladas (beef or chicken) or as a spice rub for grilled meats.
