James Ru Can Paint and Finish. It’s not just the name of a business; it’s a simple fact. Owner Jaime Ruiz Sanchez proves this in the work he does every day. His experiences, from childhood to his early days as a young professional, weave together in a meaningful web that has led Jaime to where he is today.
“Given that my parents were immigrants, we had very limited resources and there were times we were without,” Jaime shares. With both parents being immigrants from Mexico, Jaime grew up in a “traditional Catholic-Mexican household.” Jaime was born in Oakland, California, but was raised in Tyler, Texas, where he did all of his schooling. Jaime and his wife, Andrea (a Denver, Colorado native), are raising their daughter and three fur babies in Tyler, and have made it the place where their company was founded. The city of Tyler is interwoven into the fabric of Jaime’s life.
In his business and in his life, Jaime is motivated to work hard for his child and his family. “Given that my parents were immigrants from Mexico this played a big part in wanting more out of life and giving my child what I didn’t have growing up,” Jaime says. This hustling mentality and hard-working attitude has taken Jaime down different paths. His beginning of his journey to owning his own business began with brick-laying, and brick-laying led to roofing. This transition made Jaime realize that he could “learn different trades in the construction industry, giving [him] knowledge in different areas. His realization motivated him to become his own boss, and the best way to accomplish that was to start his own company. In 2022, James Ru Can Paint and Finish, LLC was established.
James Ru Can Paint and Finish specializes in painting, from sheet rocking, tape and bed to texture and painting. They also install granite countertops and perform service calls and repairs. Whatever the task, their mission is to pay close attention to every detail. “We treat every home as our own,” Jaime says. “We’re not happy until you are!” In every job, the team focuses on affordability, and working with their customers on a reasonable price that fits their budget. In the future, they strive to expand their team and grow their exceptional service beyond the greater Tyler area.
