Bill worked diligently to put himself through college, immersing himself in the world of landscaping to cover his expenses by taking care of the outdoors at home that he stayed at while at Edinboro. His dedication paid off, enabling him to establish Herrmann's Ground Maintenance while simultaneously pursuing a career in education.

Throughout his tenure as a History teacher, Bill's love for landscaping remained unwavering. He instilled this passion in his three sons, fostering a tight-knit family dynamic centered around outdoor activities and the value of hard work. Picnics in the front yard with the mow crew became cherished memories, laying the foundation for a future generation deeply rooted in the landscaping business.

In 2005, as Bill retired from his teaching career after 35 years of service while managing his company simultaneously. In 2021, after spending 11 years as a High School Special Education teacher in Bradford, PA, his son Stephen stepped into a co-ownership role, marking a new chapter for Herrmann's Ground Maintenance. Stephen, following in his father's footsteps, brought fresh energy and expertise to the business, having spent years honing his skills in education before joining in the ownership of the family enterprise.
