Carter Crum

2nd Runner Up in ZTA's "Big Man on Campus"

2nd runner up in ZTA's "Big Man on Campus"

Last month we featured Annabeth Presley, who serves as a War Eagle Girl at Auburn University, so this month we want to introduce you to resident Carter Crum, a Plainsmen in the same organization. War Eagle Girls and Plainsmen (WEGP) serve as official hosts of the university. There are only 13 of each, and they are selected through an interview process. Carter is a second-year member and has loved every minute of being involved in this organization. "It's an exciting way to show others around my hometown and our great university," he shares. In addition, this position allows him to be an ambassador for AU football during home and away games.

Carter is majoring in finance which he believes can lead him to many job opportunities. In addition, Carter loves building relationships and feels that working with others in his classes has provided him with an enjoyable experience at AU. His dream job is to be an athletic director at a power five school, but even more specifically, at Auburn University. Along these lines, Carter has taken an internship with the AU Athletic Department which has provided him with many friendships and connections.

Last year, Carter was selected to participate in ZTA's "Big Man on Campus" philanthropy event. "I had the opportunity, along with 17 other contestants, to raise money for breast cancer awareness and research,” he explains. “We had to have professional pictures made and create dances. I was the 2nd runner-up in the event and had a blast serving with the other guys." Other hobbies Carter enjoys include playing all sports and watching AU sports with his friends. He is involved in the college ministry at First Baptist Church in Opelika and also enjoys traveling and looking for ways to serve others.

The Crum family has lived in Moore's Mill since 2003, and Carter loved growing up in the neighborhood. He has fond memories of backyard football and playing with all the neighborhood kids. Living in Moore's Mill has allowed him to help others with yard work or strenuous tasks when neighbors have needed a helping hand. This gives him great pleasure and puts a smile on his face. Carter wants to thank Moore's Mill for providing him a wonderful and safe place to grow up and give everyone a big "War Eagle!"
