Meet the Clarks!

Steven, Kristen, Stafford (9), Helen (6), and Frances (2) have lived in Kings Point for 7 years. They also have several furry family members, Barrett is a black lab, Minnie is their cavapoo, and they have two miniature cows, Belle and Beast!

Both Steven and Kristen are originally from Beaumont. They actually went to high school together, met as freshmen, and started dating their junior year! Kristen went on to attend St. Marys at Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana and Steven graduated from Texas A&M University. They were married in June of 2013 in Galveston, at St. Patricks Catholic Church. It’s tradition that almost every couple in Kristen’s family have been married in that church since 1894.

Steven owns his own business. His father started the company in 2004 and Steven bought into the company not long after graduating from college. Their company supplies raw material and machined components mainly to the oil field industry. Recently they have started to make parts for Space X, which the kids find very cool!

Work originally brought them to Kingwood and they have stayed because they love the small town next to a big city feeling. Kristen tells us, “We love running into friends anywhere we go whether it be the soccer fields, school, church, the grocery store … there is such a sense of community here.” The kids attend St. Martha Catholic School, where Stafford is in the third grade and Helen is in first grade. Frances keeps mom on her toes at home!

Outside of school the Clarks stay busy with activities! Stafford plays soccer and baseball and has recently picked up tennis, which he is loving! But more than any other sport Stafford loves to hunt with dad! Helen enjoys gymnastics, dance, and also recently started playing tennis. The family as a whole love to hike, hunt, fish, and travel!

While they wouldn’t consider it a relaxing outlet, given that they rarely sit around on vacation, the Clarks love to travel!! As a family they enjoy visiting new places and will pick up and go every chance they get. They also have a family ranch in west Texas which they enjoy going to whenever they can. They love Rosemary Beach in Florida, the mountains of Colorado, and Disney World. Those are the family’s most frequent trips, but last summer they went to Italy, Greece, and Turkey and Kristen thinks it will now be hard to stay away from Europe! She tells us, “We look at flights to go back almost weekly!”

When it comes to sports, the Clarks tell us, “There are only 2 teams we watch in our house - the Aggies and the Astros!” They do enjoy watching other shows as well when they have some rare downtime. Kristen is a history junkie and Steven has also found it to be super interesting, especially after visiting Boston and reading more about that time period. The kids say their favorite show is Alvin and the Chipmunks. As a couple, Kristen and Stephen agree that their favorite show they ever watched together was Turn! Kristen’s all-time favorite movie is The Sound of Music, but as a family they stick to the Disney classics!

When it comes to favorite restaurants, they don’t discriminate, they love most of the restaurants in Kingwood. But if the kids got to vote they would probably say Raffas! At home their favorite family meal is Kristen’s lasagna!

The Clarks stay very involved in their church and the kids’ school. Kristen is also a member of Mothers Against Cancer. They tell us, “Our family is very devout Catholics so as a family we practice many church traditions in our home!”

Their favorite part about living in Kings Point is that it is so peaceful. “We’ve always found that there is a sense of ‘a village’ here. The kiddos are always running back and forth between our house and other kids’ houses on the street, and neighbors are always friendly and there for you when you need them whether it be to retrieve mail at each other’s houses or just to talk to a friendly face.”
