Where are you from?

While Dietrich was born in Charlotte, NC, and Brooke was born in Jackson, MI, we met, got married, and had kids while living in Florida. This was our home for 10 years when we recently decided to move to Collierville.

How long have you lived in the neighborhood?

Since June of 2020

Where do your kids go to school?

Mylee attends West Collierville Middle School where she is passionate about science and art classes. Dante attends Bailey Station Elementary School where he excels at reading and math. 

How long have you been with your spouse and how did you meet?

We met online and have been together since 2009, but waited to get married once Brooke graduated college in 2014.

What college/university did you attend?

Dietrich went to Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL, and Brooke attended Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL.

How are you involved in the community?

Brooke is a member of the Halle Social Committee and Halle Book Club.

FAVORITES

Activities/Hobbies:

Dietrich enjoys riding his Italian motorcycle, playing disc golf, and weight lifting.  Brooke likes to garden, DIY craft projects, and bodybuilding.  Mylee enjoys English-style horseback riding, comic book club, and playing Minecraft with her brother.  Dante likes playing sports such as t-ball and soccer but is very passionate about anything involving music or dance.

Park/Hang out Spots:

We really enjoy riding our bikes as a family at the local parks such as Shelby Farms, W.C. Johnson, and Cameron Brown.  Brooke and the kids can be seen walking the neighborhood or parks while playing Pokémon GO.  

Restaurants:

For meals, we like Wolf River Brisket Co., Raven & Lily, Rock-n-Dough, Torchy’s Tacos, and City Silo.  For something sweet, we love Gibson’s Doughnuts, Crumbl Cookies, and Milk Dessert Bar.

Vacation Destinations:

While it is rare that we visit the same place twice, we do frequent Nashville and Brooke’s family farm quite often. We’ve been on numerous cruises and really enjoy traveling that way. We like to explore new places any chance we get and some of our favorite places we have been to include Alaska, Asheville, NC, Virgin Islands, Italy, and Germany.

TV/Shows and Movies: 

We enjoy family shows such as Lego Masters and Holey Moley and as for movies we like the Star Wars series, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter.

Family Dinner: 

We’re usually at home cooking a variety of items but some of our favorites are shrimp, fish, grilled chicken, and air-fried or roasted vegetables.

FAMILY LIFE

Do you have a family tradition?

Every year, we make sure each one of us gets an Advent calendar and really enjoy opening the gifts for each day leading up to Christmas.

What do you do to relax? 

Dietrich will take his motorcycle out for a ride, hit the gym, or play a little bit of Xbox, while Brooke prefers to read, browse Pinterest or watch TV.

When does your family feel the most connected?

Having a 14-year-old and a 6-year-old, at times it’s difficult to find activities that we can all enjoy. As a family we love doing puzzles (the more complicated, the better), playing four-player video games such as Mario Party or Mario Kart, and going on walks, hikes, bike rides, and other outdoor activities. 

What is your favorite part of living in the neighborhood?

The sense of community and activities really drew us toward Halle when home searching. Also, the fact that there are plenty of families in the neighborhood was a real plus. We have been used to living in areas that had a large population of retired individuals with no kids, so having other families around with young children was a must.
