Mamas + Margs on Cross Ridge
Stroll Crestline hosts a Mamas + Margs event each month on a different street in Crestline. Hennessy Williams hosted the event at her home on Cross Ridge Road.
Neighbors from Cross Ridge Road, Ridgeview Drive, Rockbrook Circle, and Shannon Lane sipped margaritas from Stroll partner Taco Mama while offering story ideas for future issues. Several Stroll partners, including BinWorx, Harper Hills Collective, BDry Alabama, Ritchie Construction Group, Divine Smiles Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry, Amy Gardner State Farm, Oasis Mosquito Solutions, and Always Best Care Senior Services, brought gifts for a fun raffle. Stroll Crestline photographer David Robertson captured the event.
At the end of the night, neighbors shared what they love most about their streets.
How long have you lived on your street, and what is one of the ways you have seen it change?
“We were lucky enough to move into our home about 4 years ago, and our love for our neighborhood has grown every day since moving in. Over the past couple of years, more young families have moved in, which makes us even more excited to grow our family here. Watching the neighborhood kids use our staircase as a shortcut to the village makes us feel even more connected to all the families!” - Paige Booth
Who’s someone on your street who’s lived there the longest, and what’s their story?
“The Hennessys have lived in the neighborhood a long time. They raised their boys here. Now one of their boys, Sandner, lives in the neighborhood with his family. It is so fun that their kids can just walk down the street to their grandparents' house!” - Hennessy Williams
Other than your own, what house on your street catches your eye, and what do you admire about it?
“On my street, I adore the Hennesseys’ house, Tim and Lynn (affectionately known as Sugar). Not just because of the way it looks, but because of who’s inside. You’ll never meet a more loving family than that is the epitome of Crestline. They raised 4 boys in that house over the years—all who came back to live in Mountain Brook and raise families of their own. My two sons love to play with all of the Hennessey grandkids who are always visiting Pops and Sugar!” - Brittney Summerville
Who’s the first neighbor you’d reach out to in a pinch, and for what kind of favor?
“The first neighbor I would reach out to if I were in a pinch is Rhonda Henessy! With her older children, she has been helpful in navigating Crestline Elementary's crazy schedule. A favor would be to take or pick up my son if something came up! Her son Wilson and my son Grayson are in the same 3rd-grade class.” - Jordan Gowan
What’s your favorite route to walk in Crestline, and where do you usually go?
“We normally walk down our street to the triangle to go to Crestline Park, Craft’s, or the tot lot. We love being so close to everything!” - Alexandria Corey
What makes life on your street special?
“The heart of our street lies in its incredible diversity of experience. We have a perfect balance of history and new beginnings, from families who have been here for four decades to couples just starting their families. It’s a quiet community that celebrates every age and ability, making every evening stroll an opportunity to meet and learn from old and new neighbors.” - Elizabeth Shelton
If someone new moved to your street, what’s the first piece of advice you’d give them?
“I’d tell a newcomer that if they didn’t already have a dog, they would inherit 20 just by being in the neighborhood.” - Lori Adkisson Dixon
Tell me about a Crestline tradition your family loves celebrating year after year.
“My husband and I love walking to the village to watch the Halloween parade! This year, we are especially excited to bring our new baby boy to the festivities in October!” - Lauren Doss
