Bermuda Run Garden Club Welcomes Spring

February Installation Meeting

Spring is in full bloom, and the Bermuda Run Garden Club is celebrating with the reopening of the Pollinator Gardens. The club has recently installed new plant markers throughout the gardens, each featuring a QR code that visitors can scan to learn more about the individual plants. It is a wonderful way for residents to explore, learn, and deepen their appreciation for the carefully curated pollinator spaces.
The community is invited to attend the “Opening of the Gardens” program on April 8 at 6 pm, with a rain date scheduled for April 9 at 6 pm. The evening will include helpful tips on how to start your perennials off the right way, just in time for the growing season.
At the March 4 meeting, members learned about the NCDOT Roadside Wildflowers Program. The program highlighted the state’s efforts to enhance highways with native blooms and support pollinators across North Carolina. The meeting space reflected the spirit of the season, with tables decorated in festive St Patrick’s Day green. Hostesses Cindy O’Hagan and Janet DeLong created a charming display featuring a cabbage centerpiece, primrose plants, and St Patrick’s Day necklaces.
In February, the club gathered for its Installation Luncheon, where District 4 Director Deborah Thompson formally installed the new officers for the 2026 to 2027 term. Each officer was presented with a rose during the ceremony.
The newly installed officers are:
  • Karen Cohn, First Vice President
  • Donna Willingham, Co Second Vice President
  • Jenny Spencer, Co Second Vice President
  • Maureen Maynard, Secretary
  • Beverly Lyons, Treasurer
  • Donna Lamonds, President
The February program, “Plant Doctor’s Arsenal,” focused on products for disease and pest control, equipping members with practical tools to keep their gardens healthy throughout the growing season. Hostesses for the February meeting were Karen Coley and Shelby Nichols.
The Garden Club continues to play an active role in beautifying Bermuda Run and educating the community. Be sure to watch for additional information in this issue, including details about the upcoming shredding event.
Residents interested in gardening, pollinators, and community beautification are always welcome to get involved and join the Bermuda Run Garden Club as it cultivates knowledge, friendship, and vibrant gardens throughout the year.
