Bermuda Run Recipes

April is the first full month of spring.  During the cold, icy, snowy weather we experienced this past winter, we can look forward to warmer temperatures with beautiful flowers and budding trees. Easter comes in April this year, which is the most powerful holiday in the Christian faith.  Easter proclaims that Jesus defeated sin and death. Easter is the ultimate story of hope. As a little girl I always looked forward to Easter egg hunts.  We never had candy or stickers in the eggs like we find now.  Finding the Easter egg was the prize in itself.  As a kindergarten and first grade teacher, Easter egg hunts were always popular.  One teacher would do an Easter craft with several classes while the other teachers would hide eggs.  The children were so excited to find those bright plastic eggs.  That was a sweet memory I will cherish.  My four year old grandson likes to look for Easter eggs year round.  No, he doesn’t have candy or stickers in them at Granna’s house.  I want him to remember the activity we shared together. That is the prize for both of us.
This month’s recipe is Chocolate Crinkles.  I make this recipe a lot to share with the medical volunteers at A Storehouse for Jesus.  The dough spreads and cracks as it bakes, creating those signature lines dusted in powdered sugar.  The edges are lightly crisp while the center stays fudgy and brownie-like. These cookies will almost melt in your mouth.  It is hard to eat just one! If you are baking them gluten free, I have included in parentheses the brands I prefer.
Happy Easter!
Blessings!
