Kinderton Women Gather in Style and Spirit

It began as a chilly Saturday morning in May, but there was nothing cold about the atmosphere inside the Kinderton Village clubhouse, where the First Annual Women’s Covered Dish gathering came to life.
This inspiring event was thoughtfully created by the Community Engagement Committee—a group of seven dedicated and adventurous women who call Kinderton home: Shelley Hundley, Cathy Ring, Rebecca Woodall, Angel Kelly Jackson, Missie Crews Flanagan, and Barbara Turner. Together, they envisioned an all-female gathering designed to foster connection, collaboration, and the enduring solidarity of women.
Adding to the charm of the day, the gathering coincided with the Kentucky Derby, and attendees embraced the occasion in style—arriving in festive hats and elegant party dresses that brought a touch of whimsy and tradition to the celebration.
With a shared belief that women can—and should—support, uplift, and stand beside one another across all differences, attendees were invited to bring a covered dish to share. The result was a beautiful spread of both food and stories: cherished family recipes passed down through generations, savory pulled pork, a crockpot of the most delicious Southern grits, and the ever-classic deviled eggs, among many other delightful offerings.
The room itself reflected the spirit of the occasion—tables adorned with vibrant flowers, gratitude cards, and empowering take-home stickers created a warm and welcoming setting. Before the meal, a heartfelt prayer was led by the talented Missie Flanagan, setting a tone of gratitude and togetherness before we began our joyful feast.
To close the event, a complimentary plant and bulb exchange encouraged everyone to continue nurturing beauty within our neighborhood—both literally and figuratively.
I left feeling deeply grateful to be part of such a remarkable community. Together, we rose—stronger, louder, and truly unstoppable.
