Jean Bae Launches New Line of Clean Skincare and Cosmetics

Prioritizing Beauty and Giving Back

Avenel’s Jean Bae is widely known throughout the area as a hair color specialist, stylist, and owner of her own business, Salon Jean and Day Spa. This month her business expands as she announces the launch of her very own line of anti-aging cosmetics and skincare under her new brand — JEANBAE.

 Jean decided to develop and launch her own line of cosmetics and skincare products after utilizing and selling products with a multitude of cosmetics companies over the years. Though she offered the cleanest products she could find, she recognized the various toxins and additives causing harm to her skin as well as harming animals within the development and testing stages. “It felt necessary for me to make an impact in the beauty industry by creating a brand that offers more natural products for all ages and ethnicities. JEANBAE products enhance our consumers' natural beauty while contributing to a mission that gives back and improves the lives of animals with every purchase,” she says.

Since opening the doors of her Salon 16 years ago, Jean and her team have donated to local and global charities that directly support animal rescue, animal health treatment, and adoption, such as the Animal Humane Society and PetConnect Rescue. Each year the Salon sponsors a Pet Calendar with local pets to raise money and contribute to these causes which are dear to her heart.

Since COVID closures had a significant impact on the salon industry, Jean says, “it gave me time to shift my focus to research and develop how to create a line of products that are non-toxic, clean, and cruelty-free products.”

Her new company, JEANBAE, is designed to educate consumers on enhancing their natural beauty through practices of utilizing cosmetics and skincare that are clean while at the same time positively impacting the lives of animals.

JEANBAE offers three product lines: JEANBAE Cosmetics, JEANBAE Skincare, and JEANBAE Naturals. All three lines encompass minimalistic ingredients to create high-quality, clean, and cruelty-free products. “It was vital to create a brand that is a one-stop shop brand offering skincare, and natural products to repair, replenish, and enhance our skin,” she says. 

JEANBAE Cosmetics uses quality ingredients to enhance the skin's natural beauty while feeling weightless during each wear. The line uses original formulae with a Canadian manufacturer, in full compliance with European, Halal and US regulations.

JEANBAE Skincare also offers revolutionary products utilizing the latest technologies and ingredients. The team worked with an innovative manufacturer in New York City to provide a full line from fundamental basics to high-tech dermatologic formulas, addressing the needs of every skin type.

JEANBAE Naturals is near and dear to Jean's heart. “I perfected it in my own kitchen for six months and assessed it on my skin before collaborating with a team of chemists to create the finalized product line," she explains, "we use two at-home everyday key ingredients: rice and banana. This line balances, repairs, and strengthens your microbiome while hydrating your skin to create that natural glowing effect. Our Riceana Elixir is constructed with rice water and banana creating an AM/PM moisturizer which eliminates fine lines and wrinkles.”

Getting JEANBAE off the ground has been both a challenge and an incredible learning opportunity as an entrepreneur. At first, she overcame a potential trademark infringement before settling on the name JEANBAE. Then she spent countless hours developing the various product lines and brand identity which has been over a year in the making. The initial launch will be through her e-commerce site, jeanbae.us, with a launch party to follow at her salon, Salon Jean and Day Spa in Cabin John. All three product lines; JEANBAE Cosmetics, JEANBAE Skincare, and JEANBAE Naturals, will be sold locally at Salon Jean and Day Spa. 

As CEO and Founder of JEANBAE, Jean’s vision is to be a cosmetic and skincare line for all ages and ethnicities while educating consumers about clean beauty and skincare.
