Primrose School of Midtown at Colony Square

Where Early Learning Meets Heart in the Heart of Atlanta

In the heart of Midtown, where families, culture, and community intersect, Primrose School of Midtown has become a cornerstone for early childhood education—serving generations of intown Atlanta families with care, intention, and excellence.

A School Built from Personal Experience

For co-owners Keri and Carl Stoltz, this school was never just a business—it was personal.

After more than a decade working with Primrose Schools’ national support center, Keri had a front-row seat to what exceptional early education could look like. But it wasn’t until she and Carl became parents that the vision became urgent.

Like many young families in intown Atlanta, they struggled to find high-quality early education close to home.

So, they decided to create it.

In 2010, the Stoltz family opened Primrose School of Midtown at Colony Square, launching the first urban school prototype for the Primrose brand. What began as a solution for their own family—and their neighbors—quickly became a model that helped shape the company’s national expansion into urban communities.

A Balanced Approach to Early Learning

At its core, Primrose School of Midtown is built around the Primrose Balanced Learning® approach—a thoughtful blend of purposeful play, nurturing guidance, and strong academic foundations.

Serving children from 6 weeks through 5 years old, the school focuses on developing the whole child:

  • Academic growth
  • Social and emotional development
  • Physical well-being
  • Character and confidence
Just as important is the school’s emphasis on partnership with families. Communication, consistency, and connection extend beyond the classroom—creating a supportive environment where both children and parents feel known and valued.

More Than a School—A Community

What makes Primrose School of Midtown unique isn’t just its history—it’s its heart.

As a locally owned school, Keri and Carl are deeply invested in the community they serve. They live here. Their children grew up here. The families they support are neighbors, friends, and fellow members of the intown Atlanta community—from Ansley Park to Midtown to Morningside to Virginia-Highland.

That connection shows up in meaningful ways.

Over the years, the school has supported organizations such as Agape Youth & Family Center, Children Read Atlanta, Helping Mamas, The Salvation Army, GiGi’s Playhouse, the Atlanta Police Department, Fire Station #15, and Heartis Senior Living.

Through donation drives, literacy initiatives, service projects, support for first responders, and intergenerational outreach, the school instills something just as important as education—a sense of compassion and responsibility.

Even the youngest students are introduced to age-appropriate service opportunities, learning early what it means to care for others.

Resilience, Growth, and Staying True to Their Mission

From pioneering a new urban model to navigating the challenges of the pandemic and staffing pressures that followed, the journey hasn’t been without obstacles.
But each challenge has reinforced what matters most: strong relationships, a supported teaching team, and a deep commitment to families.

Looking Ahead

As they look to the future, the Stoltz family remains focused on continuing what they started—raising the standard for early childhood education while preserving the warm, personal culture that defines their school.
Their vision is simple yet powerful:

A place where
children feel joyful,
families feel supported,
and
teachers feel valued
.

A Final Word to Families

Keri offers this perspective to parents navigating early education:

“The early years matter more than most people realize. This is where children begin to build confidence, curiosity, empathy, and a lifelong love of learning. Finding a school that feels like a true partner makes all the difference.”
