Kettering native Kelly Blundell, owner of the completely woman-owned and operated KB Home Services LLC, says, “If you need it done, we can pretty much do it.”

Kelly launched her business six years ago as a mowing and lawn care company with the goal of working hard but still having time to spend with her amazing husband and daughter. The business grew from there, and so did Kelly’s love for what she does. 

 

What does she find most fulfilling about her work? “Seeing that freshly mowed lawn with perfect lines or a beautiful, freshly painted wall and hearing my clients say how much they love it,” she shared. Client satisfaction to her means knowing she made a difference that put a smile on someone’s face. Being able to provide for her family is icing on the cake.

 

Clients are fans of Kelly’s superior service. “I know you want to be proud of your home and lawn,” she said. “I am here to help you with just that.” Kelly looks at every job like it’s her own house that deserves the high-quality standards she is proud of. She is also a stand-out in the lawn and home improvement industries, where up-and-comers are learning everything from YouTube, and the art of listening and going above and beyond seems like a thing of the past. “For so many, accountability no longer exists, and prices have skyrocketed,” she said, vowing to deliver high quality at a value for her clients and offering a 10% discount to active and retired military and senior citizens.

 

Kelly defines success as working hard and playing even harder. “Success is making enough money to pay my bills and having enough left to live and enjoy life, not just survive,” she said. “It's waking up every morning excited to work because I love what I do and how it makes others feel.” She hopes to be remembered for her "go-get-em" attitude, positive personality, and friendly smile and for being a hard worker and provider for her family. When people think of KB Home Services LLC, she wants them to think of her. 

 

Kelly gives credit for much of her success to her family for being super supportive. “I would not have made it this far without them,” she said. “I’m also grateful for my loyal customers, my friends, and all the people who have and are working for me. They have played a role in my growth and achievements.”

 

Having grown up in a close-knit family, Kelly learned early on how to treat others how she wants to be treated, and she cherishes the close relationships she forms with customers as a result. As a woman trailblazing her way through a traditionally male-dominated field, she is also a champion of working with women. “About 85% of the people I come in contact with are women,” she shared. “They are the ones home when I come to do the work, which is soothing, not having to worry about someone in the home being bigger or stronger than me and always feeling on guard.”

When Kelly is not busy taking care of her clients, she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and dog Trixie. A perfect day for the family could be a movie in their living room, screaming at Kings Island, or in the backyard on the trampoline with the grill going. She also enjoys massages and getting pedicures with her daughter. 

 

In the spirit of serving her clients, Kelly offers some words of advice: “Do not put it off, especially when it comes to your lawn and home,” she said. “Those little jobs can add up and become big ones very fast.”
