More Than a Meal: Welcome to Smoked and Soaked™
If you're reading this, welcome. I'm Brice Voithofer, founder of Smoked and Soaked™, and I'm honored to share this journey with you.
For more than 25 years, my career took me across the United States and around the world. While the meetings eventually faded from memory, something else never did—the conversations over incredible meals, backyard barbecues, neighborhood pubs, family-owned restaurants, and the passionate people behind them.
That's where Smoked and Soaked™ was born.
This isn't just about barbecue, craft beer, wine, or the occasional bourbon I'll probably need help learning to appreciate. It's about discovering the people, places, and stories that make every meal memorable.
That passion has grown into two projects you'll be seeing throughout this column.
The first is Curiosity'D™. My belief is simple: every small business, pitmaster, brewer, winemaker, food truck, butcher, and family restaurant has a story worth telling. Sometimes all it takes is someone curious enough to ask a few questions.
The second is The Founder's Heritage Tour™, where I'm working with tourism organizations and governments to explore countries through their food, traditions, craftsmanship, and people—not just their famous landmarks. My hope is to inspire others to travel by sharing authentic experiences from around the world while reminding us to appreciate the amazing places we have right here at home.
Of course, not every story requires a passport. Many of the best are happening right here in our own communities.
Each month I'll introduce you to local restaurants, festivals, artisans, breweries, wineries, distilleries, barbecue joints, and hidden gems that deserve a little more attention.
Along the way, I hope you'll discover a few new favorites—and maybe even share a few of your own with me.
One last thing. If you're driving through the neighborhood on Clubhouse Road and catch the unmistakable aroma of hickory or cherry wood rolling through the air, there's a good chance I'm outside tending one of my grills or smokers. Don't just wave as you drive by (although that's perfectly fine too). Stop by and say hello. Let's talk food, travel, or life for a while.
And if the timing is right, you might even leave with a plate of barbecue in your hands.
Because that's what Smoked and Soaked™ is all about—bringing people together through great food, great spirits, and great conversation.
I can't wait to share this journey with you.
Remember…
Life's Better When It's Smoked and Soaked™.
Until next month...
Stay Curious!
