Uncorking a Dream: Where Good Wine Meets Great Company at Keymar Winery

Owners, Mike Moran and Lillian Nash

Some businesses begin with a business plan. Others begin with a promise.

For Keymar Winery, that promise turned into a place where every bottle tells a story.

Opened in October 2025 in Keymar, Maryland, Keymar Winery was founded by winemaker Michael “Mike” Moran and Lillian Nash with a vision to create more than a winery—they wanted to create a destination centered around connection, craftsmanship, and community.

Mike, a U.S. Army veteran who served for 15 years, never imagined winemaking would become his next chapter. That changed in 2012 at a lively hobbyist winemaking event in Baltimore, where he met fellow winemaker Moe Fraunfelder—and tasted a Zinfandel that would leave a lasting impression.

For years, Mike returned, and year after year Moe offered to teach him the craft. Mike politely declined… until life reminded him not to wait.

After learning Moe had become ill, Mike made a promise: if Moe recovered, he would finally say yes. Those years learning alongside Moe became the foundation of Keymar Winery and shaped the philosophy that still guides every bottle today—great wine isn’t forced; it’s revealed.

Today, Keymar Winery proudly operates as a family-run, minority and woman-owned business where handcrafted wines, small-batch production, and genuine hospitality take center stage. But ask them what truly sets them apart and the answer isn’t found in the vines—it’s in the people gathered around the table.

Residents can enjoy guided wine tastings, vineyard tours, live music weekends, seasonal events, and experiences designed to turn an ordinary afternoon into something memorable. Whether you’re planning a date night, catching up with friends, or simply slowing down for a few hours, Keymar Winery invites you to raise a glass and savor the moment.

Because maybe the key to good wine… is good company.
