Meet Gianna!

Hi, my name is Gianna Bargnes! I live on Briarhill Road in the Woodstream Farms part of the Stroll Woods & Park Community. I am going to be a senior at Williamsville East High School Class of 2023. My two favorite things to do are drawing and sports.

I am tall at 6'1, so my dad introduced me to rowing. Rowing for the Westside rowing club has been incredibly fun and I have loved it ever since I started! I enjoy rowing because it is good for both physical and mental health. Rowing makes me unique because I am the tallest one on my team, and when I set a goal, I mostly succeed. My proudest moment in rowing is when we won first place in our first race at the John Bennett Regatta. I would like to thank my coaches and my teammates for pushing all of us to work our hardest and win! All the parents are great, too – they continuously show up and are there to support our team.

When I had Covid, I didn't have much to do, so I started drawing anything I could think about. I really began to enjoy drawing because I could express my feelings in my artwork. My love for drawing makes me unique because I don't draw random doodles; I draw what I feel.

Someone whom I really admire is my sister, Maria, who is currently a junior in college. She is always's there for me, sticking up for me, and making sure that I am being the best person I can be.

Advice that I would have for others getting into my talents? When it comes to drawing, I would say don't be afraid to express your feelings on a piece of paper because, in the end, that piece of paper can be worth millions. With rowing, that sport can take you further than any other sport I know of!

When I am not rowing and drawing, I love to go to my lake house and spend quality time with both my friends and my family because they are the reason that I keep motivating myself to do what I love.

If I were to continue to practice my talents into my adult years, I hope my artwork gets sold and realize that it is not just a landscape, but it is someone's feelings. In rowing I hope that I succeed. I want to be fit and use my physical body features such as my height to good use!
