Mason Dailey: Finding Harmony in Music and Life

Seventeen-year-old Mason Dailey is a senior at Winfield High School, Mason is known for his passion for music, his dedication to his craft, and his unwavering focus on personal and academic growth.

Mason lives in an equal split custody; living half the time with his mother Kellie Steele and stepfather Jeff Brown, and half the time across the road on Church Camp Road with his dad, Evan Dailey, and stepmother Cassandra Williamson. He laughs and says, “I call North Poplar Road my home.”  Mason's sister is Sydney Dailey and his step-sister is Alaina Williamson.

Music has been an integral part of Mason’s life. His journey began with local piano lessons, which introduced him to the world of performance and eventually led him to join the Winfield High School marching band and show choir band. Now, as a soloist for the show choir band, he embraces the challenges that come with the role. “Being a soloist has pushed me to grow as a musician,” Mason shared with Stroll Winfield. “I’ve faced challenges this year that have made me better, and I’ve enjoyed every moment of it.”

For Mason, music is more than just an activity—it’s a shared experience with friends and a way to create something meaningful together. “I love the people around me and the experience of playing music with my friends,” he said. His ability to listen attentively and support his fellow musicians makes him a valuable member of both bands. “I don’t just focus on playing my part; I try to make those around me sound better, too.”

Balancing school, music, and other commitments requires discipline, but Mason has found a method that works for him. “I balance school and activities by compartmentalizing my life,” he explained. “When I’m at school, I’m 100% focused on school. When I’m at practice, I’m fully committed to my music, and what I need to do to be my best at rehearsal.”

Looking ahead, Mason plans to pursue both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in engineering. While his future career path lies in a technical field, the lessons he’s learned through music—teamwork, perseverance, and adaptability—will undoubtedly serve him well.

Through all of life’s challenges, Mason finds inspiration in his mother. “I admire my mom because she always has a smile and is always there, no matter how dark the circumstances may be,” he said. “She’s been there for me my whole life, and I hope to be as positive as she is.”

With his dedication to music, academics, and personal growth, Mason Dailey is sure to make a lasting impact, both on and off the stage.
