Community News & Announcements

Dear Winding Hills Residents,

Hello fellow residents of the Winding Hills (WH) community. This is to inform you of the newly formed Grounds Keeping Committee. The members of the committee are residents from various sections of the WH community and volunteered to join this committee at the November 2022 Annual HOA Meeting.

As we identify items that require attention, we do the work to build recommendations to the HOA Board. We want to give you an idea of the issues we are working on for our community. Thus far we have identified and recommended action on the following issues:

  1. Pruning of the Zelkova trees on Orchard Blvd by Good’s Tree Service (phase 1 completed from Winding Hills Road to Nursery Dr N in the Spring),
  2. Common area sidewalk/slab repairs (repair has already been accomplished from Winding Hills Road to Nursery Drive N),
  3. Common wooded area tree maintenance (those trees that would impact a resident’s property but are located outside of the resident’s actual property line),
  4. Pressure washing common areas (retaining walls, stairs, walkways),
  5. Walking trail repair (completed) and landscaping items to create better aesthetics.
Although not part of this committee’s responsibilities, you may have noticed work being done on the retention/detention ponds within the development. This effort is the responsibility of the developer and is controlled by various state/federal agencies. It is anticipated this work will be completed by the end of this year.

In addition, Phase 2 of the Good’s contract for pruning of the remaining trees on Orchard and Lake will be done in the late fall/early winter timeframe. Due to the size of this development, your input on areas requiring examination would be most helpful, keeping in mind that any action taken must be approved by the HOA board and must be funded by the HOA.

Fall maintenance reminder:  Please trim low-hanging branches from trees that overhang sidewalks. Township code 220-5.13 Landscaping, buffer yards and screening require a 10’ clearance after 10- years of growth. Issues/concerns can be addressed to Pat Craig at email: WHMAGroundsComm@gmail.com.
