Murphy, a Lab–Pitbull mix, has been part of the family for 12 years, and from the very beginning, it felt like destiny. All of the family’s dogs have names that start with “M,” and when they tried “Murphy,” she lit up instantly, as if she had been waiting her whole life to hear it.

A rescue at just 10 months old, Murphy came from heartbreaking neglect, confined to a backyard 24/7. Thankfully, she was saved just in time, and she’s been making up for those lost months ever since. Now, she’s the picture of joy and comfort, rolling onto her back to greet you with a wagging butt, a big grin, and an unspoken demand for belly rubs. When it’s walk time, Murphy makes sure you don’t forget by “talking” until the leash comes out.

Her quirks are endless and endearing, she sleeps on her back with her face buried in a blankie, as if shielding her eyes from the world. She’s also had her adventurous moments, like the time she leapt from a moving truck bed on the way to the dog park. Luckily, the escapade ended safely with Murphy happily sniffing the neighbor’s plants, entirely on her own terms.

Today, Murphy lives like royalty. She has three cozy beds, but her crown jewel is a custom “dog den” converted from a laundry room closet. With her own doggie door leading to a spacious turf-filled run complete with shade, Murphy’s home is truly fit for a queen.

From a neglected puppy to a spoiled, beloved companion, Murphy is proof of the joy and love that rescues bring when given a second chance.
