Molly Matheus of The Highlands

Say hello to Molly! A sweet and funny Border Collie Mix, who has been a member of the family since she was 10 weeks old! Rebecca and Jens Matheus adopted her from Puppy Rescue 911 in Ellis Grove, IL. They fell in love with her playful nature as soon as they met her! Rebecca says, “We got her because the timing felt right; we had a tough move during COVID and also it was the guilt of not getting a pet for our children.”

When they welcomed Molly into their home, they quickly realized she loved to bark. Whether it be the doorbell ringing or she's outside playing, you'll likely hear her barking. The family said Molly is both a good and not-so-good watch dog. Given her natural flair for barking, she quickly lets her owners know when someone arrives at the house. But it's not because she's ferocious or protective, it's more because that's simply her way of saying, “HI!”

Molly has made some furry friends too including Rocky, Poppy and Benny of The Highlands. They love to visit, sniff and play around the yard. In response to her playful nature, her favorite game of all time is catch! Which also means her favorite toy is (you guessed it) a tennis ball!

After she's all tired out, Molly’s favorite place to nap is in the corner of Jens’ office where there is a giant beanbag she likes to curl up and sleep. Rebecca said that Dad is definitely her favorite because of that bean bag in the office. But the family agrees, one of the quickest ways to Molly's heart is through tiny little Milk Bone treats! “Also good for training!”, says Rebecca.

The next time you see Molly outside, make sure to say, “Hi” and play some catch!
