Building a Legacy of Care

Dr. Brooke Kalisiak and her team at Legacy Physical Therapy are breaking barriers in pelvic health and changing lives every day.

Legacy Physical Therapy Team

When Dr. Brooke Kalisiak founded Legacy Physical Therapy in 2008, her vision was simple yet powerful: to create a dedicated space where people struggling with pelvic health issues could finally find expert care. At the time, pelvic health therapy was often tucked away inside large hospital departments, making it hard for patients to access. Legacy changed that by putting pelvic health front and center, empowering people of all ages and genders to get the help they need with dignity and compassion.

The name Legacy carries deep meaning. As Dr. Kalisiak explains, “I liked the idea that in doing our work with patients we would be ‘Building a Legacy, one patient at a time.’ People would enjoy working with us so much that they would tell their daughters and their moms to come see us as well.” On a lighter note, she also loved the elegant look of the cursive “L,” a nod to her maiden name, which later became part of the clinic’s logo.

Originally from Palatine, IL, Dr. Kalisiak has been passionate about physical therapy since high school. After playing Division I basketball at Princeton University and earning a degree in Psychology, she moved to St. Louis in 2000 to pursue her doctorate in Physical Therapy at Washington University. Early in her career, she discovered a passion for working with pregnant and postpartum women and individuals dealing with pelvic pain, ultimately inspiring her to start Legacy.

Today, Legacy Physical Therapy is proud to be St. Louis’ premier provider of pelvic rehabilitation services, with two locations in Valley Park and St. Peters and a team of five expert therapists. They treat a wide range of concerns including bladder leakage, pelvic pain, pelvic organ prolapse, pain with sex, pregnancy and postpartum issues, post-surgical recovery, and constipation, all without relying on surgery or medications.

Dr. Kalisiak wants residents to know, “Pelvic issues like bladder leakage, pelvic pressure, and pelvic pain are common but are NOT normal. Conservative treatment like pelvic physical therapy can make a life-changing difference.”
