Finding Home in Wildhorse
After 20 years away, the Johnson family is embracing life back in St. Louis and all the joys that come with home, family, and community.
After more than 20 years away, the Johnson family is thrilled to be back in St. Louis and even happier to call Wildhorse home! Matt and Kelly, along with their 7-year-old daughter, Emmery, have jumped right into neighborhood life and are loving every minute.
Matt, who grew up in Kirkwood, now serves as President and CEO of Keg 1 Missouri. Kelly, originally from Hillsboro where she grew up on 30 acres, is the National Production Director at the American Red Cross in Biomedical Services. The Johnsons spent over a decade in Arkansas before Matt’s job brought them back to Missouri last year. “It was down to the wire trying to find a house before school started,” Kelly says. “We fell in love with the neighborhood, the wildlife, and all the great amenities. It just felt like home.”
Emmery is in second grade at Chesterfield Elementary and keeps busy with soccer, piano lessons, and her current favorite, The Descendants series. The family recently welcomed a new furry friend, Scottie, a rescue mutt from Home2Home Orphanage. He was named after their favorite pro golfer, Scottie Scheffler, and has quickly stolen everyone’s hearts.
When they’re not working or at school, you can often find the Johnsons out for a family bike ride, relaxing with a good book or podcast, or cheering on their favorite teams: the Cardinals, Blues, Chiefs, and USA Men’s Soccer. Matt’s sous vide steak is a family favorite (Emmery and Kelly are his biggest fans!). And a favorite family tradition would be hosting Thanksgiving in the new house!
When it’s time for a getaway, the beach is their happy place. Music is always playing in their home, usually Taylor Swift, country, or classic rock, as long as it’s “age appropriate and not screaming.”
The Johnsons are thrilled to be part of the Wildhorse community and look forward to making many memories here!
