Hedwig is an eyelash crested gecko that is three years old. He lives happily and lovingly in Greystone subdivision with the Haas family having two friendly sisters, Hazel (10 years old) and Hattie (8 years old). They also have a cat named Hermione. They happen to be big Harry Potter fans! 

Eyelash crested geckos usually grow on an average of 8 to 10 inches, and female eyelash crested geckos are slightly bigger than males. Also, they weigh about 40 to 100 grams (weight being influenced by age, diet, and overall health). Hazel Haas got Hedwig for Christmas in third grade after learning about geckos from her classroom lizard, Lizzie at Chesterfield Elementary School in Mrs. Mathys’ class. 

Something that Hedwig enjoys doing is climbing the walls in his cage and hanging out in his coconut house. Hedwig also likes to get pictures of him in doll furniture and it’s really funny and cute. 

A few things that you should know about Hedwig is that he lives in a bio terrarium. When Hazel and her family set up Hedwig’s cage, they add plants, small invertebrates, and microorganisms to consume and break down the waste products. For Hedwig’s supplies and foods, they buy them at PetSmart and Amazon. What Hedwig eats is mainly gecko food powder-made of fruits-that Hazel mixes with water. Occasionally, they will get him crickets as a treat.
