Located right in the heart of the community, AAA - Ackerman Agency specializes in the sales and service of personal insurance products. The agency offers a comprehensive portfolio that includes AAA memberships, auto, home, life, and landlord insurance. Their expertise also extends to coverage for recreational vehicles, including boats, motorcycles, travel trailers, motorhomes, and specialty automobiles.

Dwain’s journey into the insurance industry was shaped early on by his family. “I grew up as the son of a highly successful AAA employee,” Dwain recalls. While the appeal of his father’s success was clear, he initially resisted following the same career path, concerned about working in his father’s shadow. He started his career with a competitor in Michigan, but after less than a year, AAA introduced a new sales program that caught his attention. The opportunity to leverage his skills and grow professionally was too good to pass up.

Within two years, Dwain transitioned into a leadership role, building a high-performing team and fostering professional relationships that endure to this day. “Some of the people I worked with back then still keep in touch, and we gather together a few times a year,” he says. His leadership roles eventually brought him to Illinois in 2002. But by 2014, Dwain realized his true passion was working directly with clients. He returned to sales and opened his own insurance office, where he could offer a more personal, hands-on approach.

While insurance itself may not be a unique industry, Dwain believes the way his agency operates sets them apart. “Our office culture is built on professional and ethical service,” he explains. “We’re a small but diverse team, and we take pride in the personal connections we build with every client.” With four on-site staff members and one independent contractor, the team can assist clients in English, Spanish, Hindi, and Marathi, ensuring clear and compassionate communication across cultures.

Dwain is passionate about educating clients, especially when it comes to navigating the often-confusing world of insurance coverage. He encourages White Eagle residents to look beyond the price tag. “Don’t make decisions based on premium cost alone,” he advises. “Ask questions. Understand the coverage you’re buying. For example, many families are well-covered for small financial risks but are underinsured for large exposures. Adjusting coverage doesn’t always mean spending more. Sometimes, it’s simply about reallocating resources to provide greater financial security with minimal budget impact.”

When they’re not helping clients, the Ackerman Insurance Group team leads full and active lives. Dwain enjoys substitute teaching within the Indian Prairie School District, a role that allows him to stay connected with local families and schools. Team member Deanna Cooper is passionate about Special Education Advocacy and American Sign Language, while Minakshi finds joy in cooking and exploring new travel destinations. Krystal shares a love of travel and culinary arts, with aspirations of becoming a professional chef.
