Where/why did you get your pet?
Our boys, Keaton and Evan, wanted a dog really bad. Every birthday, shooting star, and dandelion wish were all for a dog. Boys really do need a dog best friend to grow up with so we decided it was time. I (Kelly) had always wanted a corgi. My sister knew we were looking for a dog and that we preferred a corgi. She sent me a picture of an 11 month old corgi that needed a new home and we just had to have him.

Is there a story behind the name?
Chonk was the name his previous owners gave him because he was so round and chonky as a puppy.

What do you like best about your pet? Everything. He’s just the best dog. He’s playful, friendly, and such a ham. He always looks like he’s smiling and happy. He brightens everyone’s day and he’s truly part of our family. (He thinks he’s a brave boy, but he’s really not).
Has your pet met other furry friends in the neighborhood?
Chonk has another brother named Eddie. Eddie is an orange cat that hasn’t quite decided what he thinks about the dog. Chonk has met lots of friends on his daily walk around Oxbow. His best friend, Jake Wardlow, lives across the street from us. He loves to swim over at Jake’s house. There’s a certain cat in the neighborhood that can kick rocks (according to Chonk).

Any funny stories?
Chonk is a pretty pampered dog. We took him to Comanche this past year during deer season. Chonk’s brother, Evan, shot his very first deer but the deer ran into the woods. Mom (Kelly) opened the door to the house and Chonk shot out of the house and went from a spoiled inside dog to a tracking wild man in seconds. He tracked the deer down and was so proud of himself.

How spoiled is your pet?
He’s very spoiled. He’s included in everything we do and we just love him. If he can’t travel with us, he gets to stay at his Nanny and Pawpoo’s where he’s even more spoiled. Please don’t tell him that he’s “pet” of the month though, because he thinks he’s a human.
