From T-Ball to the Golden Eagles: Brody Schuman’s Baseball Journey

Brody Schuman has spent most of his life on the baseball field, but for him, the game has always been about more than wins and statistics. The Westbrook resident and recent graduate of Savannah Christian Preparatory School has built his baseball career around hard work, family, and the relationships formed along the way.
Originally from Wilmington Island, Brody has lived in Westbrook for the past two and a half years. He has lettered in varsity baseball all four years of high school and recently celebrated one of the biggest moments of his career when his team won the final game of the season to secure the region championship title.
Baseball has been part of Brody’s life since he was four years old. Inspired by his parents and following in the footsteps of his older brother, he started out playing T-ball and quickly developed a love for the sport that has only grown stronger over the years.
While baseball remains his biggest passion, Brody also enjoys golfing, fishing, and spending time with his family when he’s away from the field. Those close family connections continue to motivate him every day, especially the influence of his dad.
“I’d say my dad inspires me because I want him to be proud of me in whatever I do,” Brody shared. “Because of that, I work very hard to make him happy.”
As Brody reflects on his years of high school baseball, the memories that stand out most are not only the games themselves, but the teammates and coaches who shared the experience with him. His advice to younger athletes speaks to the perspective he has gained throughout his journey.
“My advice would be to cherish each moment you get to have with your teammates and coaches because once it’s over, you’re not going to miss the sport, but the people you played with along the way.”
That appreciation for teamwork and relationships has helped shape Brody into both a strong athlete and respected teammate. His dedication and work ethic have also opened the door to the next chapter of his baseball career. Following graduation, Brody plans to continue playing at Georgia Southern University as part of the Georgia Southern Golden Eagles baseball program.
From his early T-ball days to becoming a region champion and future college athlete, Brody’s story is one of commitment, gratitude, and perseverance. Westbrook is proud to celebrate Brody Schuman as this month’s featured athlete and looks forward to cheering him on as he continues his journey with the Golden Eagles.
