Meet the Dowdy Family of Westbrook

Golden Days, Poolside Parties & Birthday Adventures

If you’ve ever heard the cheerful sounds of laughter coming from a backyard pool party in Westbrook, there’s a good chance it was happening at the Dowdy household. Sims and Marlayna, along with their energetic two-year-old son Stetson and two lovable Golden Retrievers—Charli (6) and Maxi (4)—are soaking up every sunny moment and making memories that matter.
Though they’ve only called Westbrook home for a year, the Dowdys have quickly become familiar faces in the neighborhood. Sims, a Savannah native, and Marlayna, originally from Woodstown, New Jersey, bring a warm, welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home.
Weekends are their time to unwind and enjoy what they love most: playing a round of golf at the club, cooling off in the pool, and—believe it or not—tackling yard maintenance (yes, really!). Sims works as the Operations Manager for IMC Logistics in Marine Drayage, keeping things running smoothly on and off the job. Marlayna brings her passion for travel, fitness, and event planning to the mix, creating a vibrant and well-rounded family life.
The Dowdys are big on birthdays—especially since Sims and Marlayna’s special days are just two days apart! Every year, they plan an extravagant vacation to celebrate, creating unforgettable memories together. They also travel annually to South Dakota to visit family and keep those faraway connections strong. Back home, their backyard transforms into the ultimate hangout spot during the warmer months, with blow-up pool parties that are a hit with neighbors and kids alike.
Community matters to the Dowdys, too. Sims is a member of The Propeller Club of Savannah, and the family is active at Compassion Christian Church. When it comes to being neighborly, their message is simple and sincere: “Don’t hesitate to ask if you need anything.”
So if you see Charli and Maxi trotting down the sidewalk—or catch the sound of splashing and laughter from a nearby backyard—don’t be shy. The Dowdy family is always ready with a smile, a helping hand, and maybe even an invite to the next neighborhood pool party.
