Pure Barre Pooler

Celebrating Nine Years of Grace, Strength, and Community in Pooler

This year marks a milestone for Pure Barre Pooler—its nine-year anniversary—and owner Megan Barkley couldn’t be prouder of the journey. Over the years, this beloved studio has become far more than just a place to work out. It’s a gathering space where strength is built, friendships are formed, and lives are transformed one small movement at a time.

The Pure Barre method combines elements of ballet, Pilates, and strength training to deliver a low-impact, high-intensity workout. The focus? Small, precise movements that tone muscles, improve posture, increase flexibility, and build a strong core.
With four class formats, there’s something for every fitness goal. Classic keeps things traditional with the original barre style—low impact and full-body toning. Empower blends barre with heart-pumping intervals using ankle weights and a plyometric platform. Align emphasizes flexibility, balance, and restoration. And the newest class, Define, incorporates weight-based strength training to build power while maintaining that signature barre technique.
“What sets Pure Barre Pooler apart,” Megan explains, “is our ability to meet people where they are. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned athlete, we have the right format for you. Plus, our instructors are experts in both form and motivation, and our studio’s atmosphere is friendly, supportive, and community-driven.”
Megan’s own journey with Pure Barre began back in 2016, shortly after the Pooler studio opened. At the time, she was a teacher, but she had a dream of one day owning her own studio. “The cards fell into place,” she says with a smile. In 2023, that dream became a reality when she purchased Pure Barre Pooler.
A Westbrook resident since 2017, Megan moved from Valdosta, Georgia, with her husband. Today, they share a busy, joy-filled life with their two boys—Jack (5) and Maxwell (5 months)—and a spunky goldendoodle named Olive. When she’s not at the studio, you’ll find her spending time with family and friends or enjoying her own fitness routines.
Her advice for those curious about starting? “Stepping into a new place and beginning your fitness journey can be nerve-racking, but know that Pure Barre Pooler is a welcoming and encouraging place for everyone. We are here for you.”
With Megan at the helm, Pure Barre Pooler continues to be more than just a workout—it’s a community built on strength, support, and the belief that small movements can lead to big change. Nine years in, and this community is stronger than ever.
