Meet Dr. Scott Perrin

For Scott Perrin M.D. medicine was a calling shaped early in his life by example, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to serve others in their most vulnerable moments.

Raised in Tampa in a deeply nurturing Catholic household, Dr. Scott Perrin grew up watching two very different but equally influential models of service. His mother, an OB/GYN nurse and later Dean of the College of Public Health with a passion for research in community and family health. His father, a biochemical engineer by training, made a bold and inspiring midlife pivot: entering medical school at age 48 and going on to practice family medicine starting at the age of 52. The influence of his parents left a lasting impression. Inspired by both his mother and father’s career paths, Dr. Perrin would follow a similar life of service, attending the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. He completed his medical degree there in 2007, followed by a residency in Diagnostic Radiology and a fellowship in Interventional Radiology. During his training, he served as Chief Radiology Resident from 2011 to 2012, which was an early indicator of both leadership and clinical excellence. His skills and dedication quickly stood out, earning him a position with Radiology Associates of Florida, the very group that trained him. In 2013, he relocated to Sarasota, where he began working at Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Perrin met his wife, Melissa, at a high school church youth group in Tampa. Their relationship, rooted in shared values and faith, continued through college, where they married. Four children and 26 years later, their partnership remains a steady foundation in both life and career, a rarity that speaks to the same consistency and commitment he brings to his patients. That shared commitment to community extends beyond their home. Melissa has become a dedicated advocate within the very healthcare system that has defined Scott’s career. Through her leadership with the Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation, she has chaired the annual Rock the Roof event for the past five years, raising critical support for women’s services. Her work reflects a parallel mission ensuring that care and resources continue to grow for the community they both serve.

Recently, Dr. Perrin completed a two-year term serving as Chief of Staff of Sarasota Memorial Hospital Venice Campus from 2023 to 2025. Fast forward to February 2026, the entire interventional radiology team was formally integrated into Sarasota Memorial’s First Physicians Group (FPG). Today, he is one of twelve partners within the FPG Interventional Radiology division, continuing to expand access to advanced, minimally invasive care. Central to his work is collaboration; Dr. Perrin works closely with other specialists across disciplines, including urologists, gastroenterologists, trauma surgeons, and oncologists, to name a few, who frequently refer their most complex cases to interventional radiology. This multidisciplinary approach ensures that patients benefit from the most comprehensive, least invasive treatment options available, often avoiding traditional surgery altogether. While technical expertise is significant, it’s the patient’s experience that defines his approach. At its core, his work reflects the values he grew up with; meeting people where they are, removing barriers, and lead with compassion. He sees patients in his clinic weekly, guiding them through diagnoses that are often overwhelming, and performs procedures across hospital campuses in Sarasota and Venice. In moments that are frequently marked by fear and uncertainty, Perrin is known for bringing a sense of calm, clarity, and reassurance. Dr. Perrin is honored to be a part of and serve our wonderful Sarasota community!
