Cooking for the Arts Brings “Havana Nights” to Michael’s On East
A lively evening of hands-on cooking, music, and community spirit will raise funds to support arts education at Southside Elementary School.
The Sarasota community will once again come together for an evening of food, music, and philanthropy as Cooking for the Arts returns for its fourth year, benefiting the Southside School Foundation for the Arts.
This year’s event, themed “Havana Nights,” will take place at the iconic Michael’s On East, bringing the colors, flavors, and lively spirit of Cuba to the celebration.
Unlike a traditional gala, Cooking for the Arts offers a hands-on culinary experience. Guests don’t simply enjoy dinner—they help create it. Working together at their tables, attendees prepare courses for one another while professional chefs guide the process from the stage, making for an evening filled with teamwork, creativity, and laughter.
The event is co-chaired by Southside parents—and past students—Molly Biter and Montana Taplinger, who are helping bring the festive Havana-inspired evening to life.
Funds raised support arts programming at Southside Elementary School, including visual arts, music, theater, and creative enrichment opportunities that benefit every student on campus.
“Cooking for the Arts reflects the generosity and spirit of not only our school families but our entire community,” said Jennifer McPheeters.
A limited number of tickets and VIP tables remain available through the Southside School Foundation for the Arts.
